Present Focused

Engaged

Having a planned c-section can feel overwhelming and be a diversion from your original birth vision.  Having a birth doula present and along during the process can help keep your mind present and calm, giving you more tools to use when stress and anxiety start to creep in. Remaining focused on what you can control during your hospital stay is essential to feeling in control of your own birth story.

Maybe you wanted to have a vaginal birth,  or maybe you didn't, but either way, getting your baby earth-side is crazy hard work, and can be discouraging. Especially if you are not getting to choose the method by which you birth. Having a doula with you as you prepare and enter the OR (if permitted), can help keep you positive and continue to ground you. Helping you hold to  as many birth preferences as possible during your experience.

Mindful

a Cesarean has many layers, as does vaginal birth: preparation, the arrival of your baby, and the aftermath (aka healthing). It is easy to get lost in the sea of information that comes with such a surgery and or go down a Google black hole—which can sound the alarm.  A doula can assist you in sifting through information and help you think about which questions to ask.
